Like a Beast

I’m failing, I’m failing
If our whole plight
Is to prove we are far removed from beasts and birds.
I’m failing, I’m failing, ‘cos try as I might
I can’t stop my beastly heart from crying beastly words.
And I’m failing to see
Why I can’t just be like a beast and be free.
If a bird I would flee
To where hurt can’t reach me.
And as a wolf who owns  the creek
I’d cry my defiance
To all those who sleep.
I’d possess the night
And all my heart pleased.
Oh, I fail in the game of proper men,
‘Cos my heart’s just like a beast.

  1. Enjoyed this! I think we all have a bit of the 'beast' within us! And wouldn't we all like to be like the 'wolf who owns the creek'?

Could you possibly get rid of word verification. People have a heck of a time figuring out the words. And it often triples the time to make a comment.

    1. Hi. Thanks for the comment you left (a while ago!). I haven't been on this blog for a while and am not too familiar with it. Do you know how exactly I can get rid of the word verification?

  2. Oh, the wild heart of a girl.........I know life is hard in the wild, too, but, like you, my heart would be happiest there. Loved this.
